For the first time since 2017, millions from Texas to Maine will experience a total solar eclipse as the moon passes between the Earth and the sun, causing a brief period of midday darkness.
According to NASA, an estimated 31.6 million people will catch a full view of the event from what’s known as the eclipse’s “path of totality.”
Live outside of the path of totality? Don’t sweat it: per NASA, “99% of people who reside in the United States will be able to see the partial or total eclipse from where they live.”
