Editor’s Picks: The Best GIFs and Clips From the 2021 Billboard Music Awards

Broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, this year’s Billboard Music Awards was a real who’s who of the music industry across the world.

And really, Sunday night’s ceremony, hosted by Nick Jonas, had it all: BTS’s live performance debut of “Butter,” a stunning mother-daughter Pink performance, and even, a Jonas Brothers reunion concert — moments that we captured live on the official Billboard Music Awards GIPHY channel.

Here’s a look at our editors’ favorite moments from the night.

BTS — “Thank You”

BTS won big Sunday night, taking home four awards. In 2020, BTS became the first South Korean act to debut at №1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. After winning “Top Selling Song” for “Dynamite,” BTS gave this shout-out to their fans.

Editor’s note: “There’s a ton of ‘thank you’ content in our Clip library, but this one puts a fun spin on it since it’s a group of people expressing gratitude. Besides that, BTS content is always beloved, so this chorus of thank yous is definitely one of our favorite Clips of the evening!”

Glass Animals — Heat Waves performance

Glass Animals, who were up for two awards Sunday night, performed their song “Heat Waves,” which was nominated for “Top Rock Song.” This GIF was one of our favorite moments from the night.

Editor’s note: “Is there a better GIF for ending a late-night text conversation than this one? The lead singer of Glass Animals fell onto a bed during the band’s performance, and we think it’s an excellent GIF for wishing someone good night or even emphasizing how tired you are after a long day at work.”

Pink — “Dream Big”

Pink received the 2021 Icon Award Sunday night, becoming the youngest recipient of the award. This moment was an editor’s favorite: “We love her advice here. It’s heartfelt, but also funny — a perfect Clip!”

Pink — “This is ridiculous”

Pink also made this great quip while accepting the 2021 Icon Award. An editor noted, “we could absolutely see ourselves using this to express annoyance for years to come.”

Drake & Adonis

Drake’s son, Adonis made a surprise guest appearance as Drake accepted the Artist of the Decade award. An editor noted: “It was just too pure and sweet to not include it as a highlight of the evening!”

The Weeknd — “The dawn is coming”

The Weeknd swept the night’s biggest awards, winning a total 10 awards, including “Top Artist.” According to an editor, this moment teasing his next record was “so hilariously bizarre, we had to capture it with a Clip!”
