GIPHY and Spotify Team Up to Connect GIFs and Music Artists; Launch Partners include Doja Cat, The Kid LAROI, & Post Malone
Today, GIPHY is excited to announce its first official integration with Spotify. This collaboration enables verified music artists on GIPHY to connect their content (GIFs, Stickers, and Clips) directly to associated music on the Spotify app.
With this direct link between GIFs and Spotify artists, both users and artists alike are able to connect in a way that wasn’t possible before, bringing people closer to the artists and music they love (and enabling them to discover new music through GIPHY!).
Available on both GIPHY’s web and mobile apps, the new integration is the start of an ongoing partnership and will include artists like Doja Cat, The Kid LAROI, Post Malone, The Weeknd, Nicki Minaj, Conan Gray, and others.
Here’s how it works:
- Search, find, and view content from any music artist with a verified GIPHY channel
- Click on the GIF you’d like to use to navigate to the GIF detail page
- Participating music artists will feature a Spotify deep link directly below their GIFs/Stickers
- Tap or click the “Listen on Spotify” button on any participating GIF
- Users will be taken directly to the artists Spotify page where they can listen and discover even more music from artists they love
To see this in action now, visit the pages of our launch artists — for example, Doja Cat, The Kid LAROI, and Post Malone. More and more artists are leaning on GIFs as an extension of how they promote their work, and this integration effectively connects the dots between how we listen to and how we communicate visually to our favorite artists. Any artist with verified accounts on both platforms can link the two.
“For GIPHY, this is just the beginning of what we anticipate to be an exciting and long lasting partnership with Spotify. It’s the perfect extension of GIPHY’s mission to make the world more animated as we work with Spotify to bring artists even more visibility for their music as well as more opportunities to engage with their fans” — Lydia Getachew, Director of Business Development at GIPHY
While GIPHY has a robust network of integration partners, this integration has been an exciting step into the world of music and we can’t wait to see how else GIFs, Clips, and Stickers can lend themselves to create even more engagement opportunities for partners like Spotify.
