Widely known as “fashion’s biggest night out,” the Met Gala has long been the launching pad for Hollywood’s most enduring style icons, marrying the entertainment industry’s biggest and brightest stars with the fashion world’s most creative minds and tastemakers.
From Zendaya’s storybook turn in 2019 to Bad Bunny’s regal rosette cape in 2023, several stars have captured the zeitgeist and ascended to icon status with their Met Gala looks.
In anticipation of tonight’s Met Gala, GIPHY Arts commissioned Hong Kong-based illustrator Isaac Spellman to create a series of GIFs honoring this year’s theme (“Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion”) and capturing several of the gala’s most iconic looks. An award-winning artist with several collaborations under his belt, Spellman’s work is “deeply influenced by the culture of the East and the West and bridges past and present artistic styles with a whimsical and intricate touch.”
